Dyson Canister Vacuum Cleaner Stowaway DC23 Motorhead Model Review
The Stowaway DC23 Motorhead model of the Dyson Canister Vacuum Cleaner line is ideal for every home. It has a powerful motor and a power-driven head. It comes with a washable HEPA filter so its user will not spend additional money for replacement filters. It also includes a telescopic wand and a hose. This vacuum cleaner sucks dirt, pet hair, and dust particles very well.
It can even be used both on bare floors and carpets. In addition, the Stowaway DC23 Motorhead model uses the Root Cyclone technology which enables it to avoid clogging and to never loose its great suction. It is also bagless so its user will have no worries on spending for a replacement bag. But even if it is bagless, it still does not make a mess when it is emptied.
Moreover, this Dyson Canister Vacuum Cleaner model is made up of durable materials. It is very sturdy and it has the capability of withstanding knocks and falls. It is very easy to store, operate, and maneuver, as well. It can move around smoothly and it can even reach the most hard to reach corners.
It is really great for carpets. It can even suck up the dirt particles which are deeply embedded in them. And because of its strong bristles and soft wheels which are coated with rubber, it can be used smoothly on the floor. It will not scratch the floor because it is very sturdy but gentle. That is why the homeowner who uses it will not have to worry about repairing the floor.
However, there are also minor drawbacks regarding this Dyson Canister Vacuum Cleaner model. Some users say that its parts are weak because they are made of plastic. They also complain that it is heavy and very difficult to assemble. And others say that this vacuum cleaner is not suited for cleaning drapes and small rugs because the speed of its suction cannot be adjusted. They also complain that its brushes are harsh on rugs made of natural fibers. Nevertheless, with its drawbacks set aside, this vacuum cleaner is ideal for every home.

How to Choose Electrical Appliances
There is a bewildering array of electrical appliances available, both online and offline from traditional UK stores. Whether you are purchasing a vacuum cleaner, a dishwasher or just a simple kettle, you have not only a huge range of manufacturers from which to choose, but also a massive array of models, colours, speeds, power specifications and so on. How do you choose?
Ok, you might believe that the easiest way is to walk into your nearest retail centre and take your choice. However, how much do you really know about the product you are looking for? Of course a salesperson could help you, but many are wary of in-store sales people, even though most are genuinely trying to help you.
In any case, buying offline is becoming increasingly less popular with those that have experienced internet shopping. A High Street store finds it difficult to meet the prices of an online store, and the same is basically true of large retail centers with large premises and loads of staff. It is a lot less expensive to buy most electrical appliances online. However, there is a problem with online.
You have the same problem with a normal electrical shop, and that is range. Let’s say you want to purchase a vacuum cleaner. One shop might stock one make and the next another. Sure, they will likely sell most of the popular makes, but how many models will you be able to see. How about their specifications: what is the suction power, has it a bag or is it bagless, is it a cyclone cleaner and what kind of filters does it have? What minimum dust particle size can it filter out and are the filters replaceable or permanent?
Have you ever met anybody that could answer all of these questions for you? So how is it any different buying online? After all you have to click from one website to another, and write down all the information you get before you finally make a choice. And even then, you don’t really know how good the product you are buying is. Well, this is certainly true with regular online stores. But what about a comparison site?
A comparison site compares and reviews a number of options for you. The site itself checks up on the specifications and compares what you get with what you pay, and then you can make your mind up yourself on which you want. Such comparison sites are becoming increasingly popular with online shoppers, since they can compare products sold across a wide range of online stores, and even auction sites.
Most people believe that eBay is the least expensive source for anything, but this isn’t the case. It frequently is, but only if the item you are buying is new, and there are online sites that sell electrical appliances cheaper than any online auction site (eBay might be the biggest, but there are others). Comparison and review sites check these too, and you can be certain that the products offered on such sites are of the quality stated.
No hidden shocks with these, just honest-to-goodness information and advice. You still make the choice, but at least it will be based upon impartial advice. Most people find it difficult to choose between one electrical appliance and another of the same type, and such websites are designed to make the choice a lot easier for you.
Summary:
Electrical Appliances are not easy to buy due to the wide variety available, and an online comparison site can help significantly by providing a comparison between the options at your disposal.
For help in buying electrical appliances, and a comparison of what is available online, check out the newly launched comparison website Online Shopping UK where you will find a review and comparison of a wide range of electrical appliances, old and new, and from a wide range of suppliers.

I’ve always owned Kenmore vacuums that have lasted at least 10 years. I decided I wanted an upright and purchased a Hoover Windtunnel – huge mistake! After a few months, a belt broke. Then after a year, the self-propel mechanism stopped working and it’s no longer under warranty. It will cost me almost 1/2 the cost of the machine just to get it looked at. Now a couple of years later with the same machine, the machine even feels heavier and hurts my arm when I vacuum because the self-propel doesn’t work and I’m not sure why it feels even heavier. I will never buy a Hoover again.

Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Upright Vacuum, Self-Propelled, Bagged, U6485900
Hoover U6485900 Vacuum
This product arrived in perfect condition. It was very easy to assemble and worked perfectly the very first time we turned it on. It seems to be the best vacuum cleaner we have ever owned. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting a quality vacuum cleaner.
=======================================================================
This is a really good machine compared to everything else on the market
If your looking to purchase a good upright that will clean your house from top to bottom with good results then this is a machine for you. It has really good strong suction, good tools, easy to use and very clean. I say that because its a bagged model that captures all the dirt and debris in a bag that is easily changed and thrown away without the mess of dumping out a bagless cup and cleaning off the inside filters. I mean whats the purpose of vacuuming and then opening up your machine to clean out what you just picked up. To truly keep everything you just picked up out of your house would require going to an outside garbage can and dumping it out and hopefully there will be no wind to blow it back in yoru face. I’ve had this windtunnel now for about 2 years and bought it when it first came out for Hoovers 100 year anniversary. With a little care and maintenance, this machine will run for a long time and serve its purpose very well. Don’t let the negative reviews scare you away from this machine because it sounds like the issues people are having with it are because they don’t know the proper way to use it.
Some of the issues I’ve read on here are not problems with the machine but in fact how people are using it. Knowing your house and making the best decision on what works best for you (upright vs. canister) is the best way to go. Uprights are designed for houses mainly of carpeting, canisters for house mainly of hard floors.
Yes this machine is heavy! It says that it weights about 21+ lbs which is due to the added weight of the self propelled feature. If you like and or need the self propelled feature than expect it to add weight to the vacuum. If you want a lightweight vacuum then this is not your vacuum but the pupose of this feature is to make it easier to push taking some of the weight off of you. I read one post that alarmed me. They were afraid the machine would tip over on their small child causing severe head damage because the machine was so heavy. As with any appliance, small children should not be playing with it to the point that it will cause severe damage to them. I mean come on, its an electrical appliance, its not a playground upon which our children should be playing. They should be tought early on if they are going to use it on how to use it. Also watching your child while using it would also help.
Belts will wear and crack which is normal after using it. The V belt used to drive the self propelled feature and the brush roll belt will wear faster than normal if your not setting the height adjustment to the correct position for the surface your vacuuming. If you have it on the wrong setting it will put unnecessary drag on the brush roll and the self propelled feature causing faster wear on the belts. The belts as on any vacuum should be changed out yearly. I’ve followed the simple rule of correct height setting on the carpet I’m cleaning and yearly change out and have never had one break. If the self propelled feature stops working or is sluggish then you know its time for a new belt.
I’ve also read that it does not pick up very well on hard floors. Its an upright and the main purpose of an upright was for a household mainly of carpeting. If you have mainly hard floors than you should probably consider using a canister with a powerhead for the smaller area rungs. This machine does come with a hard floor tool which is easily connected to the two wands stored onboard and then to the hose. This attachment along with all the others are what is called friction connection. Simply sticking the attachment to the wand and then to the hose will only result it them falling off. Attach each section to each other then simply give it a slight twist and the friction will lock it in place. People don’t know that which results in complaints of them falling off. If it does not come with the extension hose you can buy one. I replaced the shorter hose with the longer extension hose and keep the longer one attached at all times so that I don’t have to change or switch them out when extra reach is needed. Simply wrap the hose around the top of the unit before plugging into the base will work nicely.
It is a loud vacuum so don’t think your buying a quiet machine. It has a powerful 12 amp motor which produces some of the best airflow out there. Some machine advertise this as high velocity airflow but in any case don’t think your going to pull it out and vacuum while everyone else is sleeping in the house and letting them continue to sleep. The production of this airflow effectively drives the powered hand tool that comes with this machine. You can also purchase an air driven powerhead for about $50 to use on your area rugs because it can chew them up with the combination of the great suction and brush roll spinning at a high rate of speed. The addition of this air powered power head works well on all area rugs and also in smaller places where the vacuum can’t go so you don’t have to move heavy furniture every time you vacuum.
It is very easy to put together. The vacuum (IF NEW FROM HOOVER IN THE BOX) is packaged very nice that will survive any shipping that takes place. All you have to do is pull it out and attach the handle but make sure the self propelled feature is in the recommended position before sliding it in. I have read that people have had problems with this feature not working but it is because the switch is not in the correct position when sliding it into the base causing it to not connect with the appropriate wires in the base therefore causing it to not work when the two srews are screwed in.
It does give nice vacuum marks in the carpeting when using. Its funny because some people realy like to have the vacuum lines in their carpeting showing that they have a freshly vacuumed rug. Admit it, most people like the vacuum lines. The lines come from the bottom plate. The plate has about 4 or 5 guard protectors that are there for a purpose. They make it safe to run over the cords, not that that is recommended because you should never run over the cord but if you accidentally do, those protectors are there so the machine does not suck up the cord and do severe damage to it. All vacuums have had these protectors on them going back to the earliest of machines with a brush roll on them. Hoover made one machine back in the 60’s, the Dail A Matic that for the first year it came out didn’t have them and people complained about the machine eating the cord and getting wrapped further around the brush roll causing severe damage. That machine was changed early on and for the rest of the life of that model had the protectors on the bottom plate. Its hard to explain but in the opening of the brush roll area on the bottom the plate has dividers making the opening sort of sectioned off this way if the cord is run over it has a smaller opening and will not wrap itself around the revolving brush.
This machine does come with a dirt sensor that is green when its clean and red when its still picking something up from the floor. It has a switch to chnage it from very sensative to not so sensative so its your choice but it does work. After using it for a years it may require to clean the sensor off but I have never had to do that before. If its red its red for a reason and still picking something up. Fine dust under the rug may cause you to make several passes before it turns green and even if its a new rug it may be picking up the extra fluff from being new. Besides who knows where those new area rugs were before you bought them, they almost always come in a dirty shipping box and stored in dusty back rooms before hitting the sales floor so just because they are new they may not be clean.
As I said in the beginging, this is a really good machine, good value for the price and something that will last years for you with a little care and understanding of using it correctly. I swear by mine and would only use this windtunnel to clean my home.

Buying Hoover WindTunnel Self-Propelled Upright Vacuum With Pet-Hair Tool, Bagless, UH60010
Great Vacuum.
This is my second Hoover Self Propelled Wind Tunnel Vacuum. It works great, has great suction power. I like the dirt finder with the red light. I have shoulder problems, and the self propel saves many problems. It’s bagless, and that’s good. I just empty it and go. The pet hair tool is great too. I can’t find anything NOT to like about the vacuum cleaner! Amazon’s price is very reasonable.

The hoover has great suction and picks up more dirt than my previous vacuum. The only downside is the weight, it is heavier than I thought it would be. It does have a setting for self-propelling which is necessary. Amazon shipped quickly

Excellent Vacuum for Price
I have two dogs, and have owned Dyson, Kenmore and other vacuums, none have lifted dirt and dog hair like this vacuum does at a fraction of the price that I had paid for the Dyson. The vacuum easily comes apart and all parts can be cleaned. The self-propelled feature is necessary since this is a heavy vacuum. The best feature for me is the ability to fully remove the agitator brush roll to remove the pet hair. Well-designed and easy to assemble and operate. Unfortunately, due to poor shipping, the vacuum box was damaged and the unit itself received some exterior damage. It might be better to find this product on sale in the store.

Great vacuum!
Bends so you can get under tables, no bag work, the spinning-brush attachment rocks, the 2 extra handles for hose attachment and the power is great. Better than my girlfriends rollerball dyson without the 800 price tag.

I Have Allergies But Why Should I Tear Out My Carpet
I am a distributor of air quality products and I hear this question all the time. Asthma and allergy sufferers are being told to remove their carpets to reduce the allergens and triggers that it may hold. I don’t know who benefits from such advice, but I do know that the carpet is not the source of the problem.
When dealing with allergens and triggers, you must first remove the source. This means removing dust producers such as paper shredders, animals and the like. You have to remember that this home is your controlled environment, and in some cases an “oasis” from the rest of the uncontrollable environments that you must visit. Your efforts here will return big dividends.
The next step is to become a “clean freak” and keep everything in the home dusted. This doesn’t mean swishing a rag or feather duster over your furniture to move the dust. You must use a damp rag to pick up and remove the dust. Keeping the carpet clean is just as important, since it is a huge dust trap. Every time you walk across your carpet, particles fly up in the millions.
This is not grounds to remove your carpet, just consider how much effort it takes to keep it clean. A good vacuum cleaner and a good air cleaner will be worth your investment. These will be your best allies in the fight to keep your environment under control. It has been my experience that carpeting is just as easy to keep clean as vinyl or hardwood flooring. You have to reduce the particle count in your home. This is where the air cleaner will payback time and again.
Air cleaners are not all alike. The best value for your money is the polarized media variety. They are easy to maintain, easy to install, and affordably priced. The two best available are the Electro Breeze brand and the Dynamic brand. They are so similar in performance and design that the only difference in comparing is the price and reliability. Since I sell both, I will tell you that the Electro Breeze brand is the winner in both categories. It has a 5-year warranty like the Dynamic, but rarely gets used. The price difference can be as much as $100.00 less for the Electro Breeze brand.
As far as a vacuum cleaner to recommend, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America has recommended the Dyson brand. Even though it is bagless, it comes with instructions for cleaning and emptying for allergy sufferers.
I hope this information has been helpful. To learn more about Polarized Media electronic air cleaners, please visit www.electro-breeze-supply.com.

Mach 7 With Windtunnel Tops No Loss of Suction Range
All the models in the Mach range, including both uprights and cylinders, are bagless and have market-leading no loss of suction technology at very affordable prices, plus a 6-year guarantee. This combination of high quality and great value is making them a popular choice with shoppers.
No loss of suction technology works by utilising multiple cyclones to separate large and fine dust particles from the airflow, which prevents the filters from clogging. As long as the machine is maintained as instructed in the manual, then it will clean floors as good as the first time, every time, without a drop in performance. You won’t have to buy replacement filters, as they have lifetime washable filters with HEPA filtration, so are ideal for homes with allergy sufferers.
Machs are very easy to use and store, with quick release bins that let you dispose of collected dirt easily and hygienically. Some models have tools designed to pick up pet hair, clean hard floors, or clean stairs and upholstery too.
There is a 6-year parts and labour guarantee on all Mach vacuum cleaners, plus Vax operates a UK based helpline that’s open 7 days a week. It’s staffed by Customer Service Advisors who are trained to resolve issues over the telephone if possible, but if a problem cannot be resolved then Vax will collect the machine free of charge, as long as it’s still under guarantee. They will repair and return it free of charge or send a brand new replacement, if the machine cannot be repaired.
The Truth About Environmentally Safe Cleaning Products
The ‘Green’ revolution that has taken over modern advertising in recent years has brought to light a number of products that boast their environmental benefits to both the consumer and the world, but how many of these products are merely an advertising slogan and which actually live up to their boasts?
The question isn’t an easy one to answer and while this article certainly can’t comment on every single one, we’ll give you a general idea on what to look for and what to avoid when it comes to the cleaning products in your home.
In 1960, the federal government passed the Federal Hazardous Substances Labeling Act that basically freed companies from having to disclose any dangerous ingredients in household products unless certain reaction or side effects would immediately be noticed after use. If you think about it, this is a rather sobering fact.
For starters, cleaning products don’t fall under the same government regulations that food products, for example, do. If you purchase a product that is labeled ‘bio-degradable’ or ‘eco-friendly’ or ‘natural,’ these words are, in effect, meaningless. There is no oversight with regard to these labels as there are in foods that claim to be ‘organic,’ for example.
How many products are in your home right now that claim to be natural or biodegradable? What is ‘natural?’ Lead is natural but we’ve learned in recent years that it’s not something we would really want to be around everyday. We certainly wouldn’t want our children to be exposed to lead on a regular basis, would we? But it’s natural. Then there’s the biodegradable label. If you wait long enough, just about every product ever created with degrade.
In recent years, however, there have been new programs develop to combat the misleading and sometimes malicious labeling that occurs within the cleaning product business. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has created the DfE label that it affixes to products that use the safest available ingredients from each category in its products. This doesn’t classify a product as ‘safe,’ however.
The Green Seal, created by the company with the same name, is attached to products that are non-toxic, non-corrosive, free of carcinogens, mutagens, and are truly biodegradable. So when you’re looking for the best cleaning products, look for these labels. Don’t forget to take a closer look at that vacuum cleaner you’re using, either. Many of these new bagless systems boast environmentally safe claims as well.
The best advice is to look closely at the fine print and do your homework.
Dave Roth owns and operates Vacuum Cleaner Talk, a website devoted to reviews about vacuum cleaners, including Dyson, Rainbow, and central vacuums.
What Do Shoppers Look For
What do shoppers look for when buying a carpet washer or vacuum cleaner?
It may come as a suprise to some to learn that the number one floorcare appliance brand in Britain is Vax Ltd.
Vax outperformed the market and sold more floorcare cleaning appliances in the month of August 2008 and the quarter June-August 2008 than any other floorcare brand. In fact Vax has been the fastest growing British floorcare brand over the past five years.
So what makes Vax machines so popular with consumers?
The answer has to be value for money. Vax provides cutting edge technology, such as ‘no loss of suction’ vacuum cleaners, along with great customer service… all at highly competitive prices. This is particularly important at a time when consumers are feeling the pinch from rising costs of living.
The days of disposable white goods are over – in these days of credit crunch many consumers look for a quality product that is guaranteed to last, much like their grandparents did. Many of us had grandmothers who owned the same vacuum cleaner for years and years – it was regularly serviced and well looked after… and did not contribute to landfill.
With a 6-year guarantee, Vax’s ‘no loss of suction’ Mach vacuum cleaners are built to last longer, meaning less landfill, less plastic and less packaging. And the bagless design with lifetime washable filters means no replacements to buy either. If you’ve got a problem you can phone the UK based Vax Helpline on 0870 606 1248 and get through to a customer care advisor based at Vax HQ. As around 80% of calls are resolved over the phone, there’s less disruption for the customer and less transport costs, which all helps to reduce the carbon footprint of each machine. And caring for your carpets properly, with regular vacuuming and washing, helps prolong their life too.
Vax unveils world’s lightest full size multi cyclonic upright Mach Air
Weighing just 4.9kg, it’s officially the lightest, full size multi-cyclonic upright vacuum cleaner in the world, as it has all the power and capacity of a conventional upright but weighs a third less. This means it’s really easy to carry up and down stairs so it’s ideal for the elderly or those with back problems. And because it’s so slim and compact it’s easy to fit in a cupboard without taking up too much room.
There are other ultra lightweight multi cyclonic uprights on the market but their compact size means they often have much smaller dirt bins than conventional models. Vax Mach Air is different because it has a 1.5-litre dust capacity so you don’t have to stop cleaning to empty it as often.
As it uses multi cyclonic technology it doesn’t lose suction, so it gives consistently good dust pick-up. This technology works by spinning the air and dust sucked into the machine through a series of cyclones. Centrifugal force separates out the dust before it reaches the filters, so they don’t get clogged up. As long as you clean out the dust container regularly and maintain the filters as per the manual, you won’t lose suction as you clean.
Mach Air has an LED Performance Indicator so you can see straight away if there’s something blocking the airflow. It’s also been designed to be very comfortable to use, as the handle can move up and down to 8 different levels to suit your height.
If you find you’re always losing the tools on your vacuum cleaner, Mach Air solves this problem by having the upholstery, crevice and brush tools all combined in a 3-in-1 tool that’s stored on board the cleaner.
