5 Advantages of Using an Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Since its inception there have been vast improvements in the design of the upright vacuum cleaner. The obvious benefit of an upright is that it is easier on the back muscles but there are many other advantages over the barrel models. Uprights are great for vacuuming stairs too as there is no need to lug the unit and hoses that go with the floor type of cleaner. The movement is smooth and provides instant stair cleaning even for carpeted stairways.
1. Easier to Use
The upright cleaner is much kinder on the back muscles as the need for bending or leaning over the hose is greatly reduced. Many people complain that vacuum cleaning leaves them feeling sad and sorry for themselves for days after so the upright makes great sense if you have any weaknesses of the torso or suffer from back problems. There doesn’t seem as much strain on the leg muscles either so the upright could definitely be a wiser choiceyou’re your health and well being.
2. Change Floor Surfaces Easily
The hard surface to carpet sensor makes changing floor surfaces happen in one smooth movement. There is no need to switch floor heads halfway through the room to accommodate the different levels or move to a carpeted area as this all happens automatically.
3. On Off Switch
With the upright vacuum cleaner the power switch can be found on the handle or a foot lever on the base of the unit. The switch on the handle makes it very easy to turn on and off but there is still the option for the foot lever switch for those who prefer.
4. Storage Options
Attachments for the upright cleaner fit perfectly into the cylinder making the whole package easy to store. Make room in the broom cupboard and at the end of the vacuuming wrap the cord and place the whole unit inside without worrying about the hoses of the conventional vacuum cleaners such as the traditional flat bedElectrolux vacuum.
5. Bag Less Units
If you’re shopping for a new vacuum cleaner you’ll notice many of the upright models are bagless and hygienically sealed. This means there will be no on going costs having to replace the bags on a regular basis and makes the emptying process easier as well. There is no need to get your hands dirty or touch the dust as it all happens by simply pushing a trigger.
Many of the newer designs are proven to be acceptable for asthma and allergy sufferers because of the way the air circulates inside the unit instead of blowing back into the room. Some have lifetime filters too meaning there is no ongoing maintenance or running costs at all.
Hoover may have been the original manufacturer for the upright vacuum cleaner but other brands such as Bissell, Electrolux and Dyson are now available with modern designs and state of the art technology making them well worth considering for your next cleaner.

Dyson DC25 Vacuum Cleaner Review The Positives and Negatives
James Dyson, inventor of the Dyson DC25 vacuum cleaner, was frustrated when his traditional bag vacuum constantly clogged, lost suction and became ineffective. A clever solution came to him one day while observing a device at a sawmill that would rapidly spin the air to remove sawdust. Over 5000 prototypes later the first Dyson Vacuum Cleaner with Root Cyclone™ Technology was born.
Maintenance Costs with the DC25 from Dyson
Mr. Dyson also believed that you shouldn’t have to suffer the expense and hassles of continually replacing expensive belts, bags and filters. A study conducted by Dyson revealed that compared to the eight best selling vacuums this alone can save up to $267 over 5 years.
The Dyson DC25 Ball Technology
Traditional vacuums have wheels that do not turn which can make steering awkward at best. The Dyson DC25 all floor ball solves this maneuvering problem by getting rid of the wheels altogether. Instead, it uses a large ball that can easily maneuver around obstacles with just a flick of the wrist.
The Overall Positives
Better cleaning power because the suction is strong and continuous
Easier to maneuver because it rides on a ball not rigid wheels
All floors Types can be cleaned with just this one vacuum
Light weight at just over 16 pounds
Less Expensive to Operate because there are no bags, belts or filters to replace. In fact, the built in HEPA filter is washable and therefore reusable.
Asthma Friendly: The HEPA filter means that the air released from the vacuum is cleaner than the air inside your home. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America has certified the DC25 as asthma friendly.
Quick-draw Telescope Reach™ wand is included for conveniently reaching stairs and other high reach areas.
Clear Dirt Receptacle allows users to easily see when the DC25 needs to be emptied. (It’s also kind of fun to watch.)
Manual-pile adjust adjusts the height of the machine to a carpet’s pile height to allow for easy movement and thorough cleaning.
Brush on/off helps eliminate scattered dirt on bare floors. It also reduces the risk of damaging a carpet or floor if the vacuum sits in place on the low-height setting.
Does Not Produce a Burning Smell because it has no belt
Built to Last – Maybe that’s why the Dyson DC25 comes with a 5 Year Warrantee.
The Negatives
If you are not paying attention, emptying the clear plastic dirt canister can be messier than throwing away some of the better made traditional disposable bags. It also may need to be emptied a little more often. However, this is offset by the fact that you will never need to buy replacement bags with the Dyson DC25.
Even though the DC25 is designed to be extremely easy to maneuver, it still can be awkward for some new users until they get the hang of it.
The handle does not telescope to accommodate extremely tall people.
Support: Dyson offers a toll free phone number with live support, an email address plus a “Frequently Asked Questions” section on their website.
Warrantee: Parts and labor are covered for 5 years
The Bottom Line:
The fact of the matter is that at just under $500 (USD) it is not for everyone. However, it’s no secret that the best products often cost the most up front but ironically cost the least in the long run.
However, (and I’m sure this won’t exactly surprise you), it is a very real possibility that many cheaper bag vacuums might have to be completely replaced 1 or 2 times while the Dyson DC25 just keeps on trucking. Also the Dyson costs almost zero to maintain because it has no bags, belts or filters to replace. That can mean a possible savings of $140 to $267 over a span of 5 years. This is how an inexpensive $200 vacuum becomes a $540 vacuum.
The total cost difference over 5 years actually favors the Dyson DC25. So why not go for the vacuum cleaner that offers the best value, lasts longer, does a better job, is easier to use and returns cleanerair? For these reasons I can recommend, without any hesitation, the Dyson DC25 All Floors Ball Vacuum Cleaner.

Dyson DC25 Multi Floor Lightweight Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner
My wife decided that it was about time that we took a look at new vacuum cleaners. Our old Hoover had been going ever since we got married, I think it was a wedding present, and was just not picking up the dirt properly and also kept breaking down. It had become a bit expensive having to regularly get in carpet cleaning companies and she wanted to keep our home cleaner herself.
She asked me to get on the Internet (that’s my place…) and find out what the best vacuum cleaner was for her to buy. So I asked her what her priorities were in choosing vacuum cleaners.
She said that her number one priority was that it should be lightweight so that she could carry it up the stairs very easily and not have to call on me to do it as she usually does.
Secondly she wanted something that was easily manoeuvrable around all the furniture. She only moves it all to clean underneath once a month. Something that would work on cleaning the tiles in the kitchen as well as the carpet in the lounge would also be an asset.
She then said that the cat hairs had been difficult to get rid of with the old one as that was important for her.
Then she said that she was fed up with having to empty the bag every time she used it. I think that they also kept splitting and ended up sending out the dust as soon as she had picked it up.
So I sat at the computer and started to look for a multi floor bagless lightweight vacuum cleaner with good manoeuvrability which she could use on all surfaces and would pick up ever crumb and hair that were lying around.
Traditionally a vacuum cleaner has been built with four wheels, one at each corner. Whenever I used ours it worked great in a straight line but I was constantly having to move it back and forth to go around corners or even manually pick it up and move it to where I wanted it.
I discovered a new idea to me which was to have a ball in the middle of the machine rather than the wheels. How many times do we hear “Don’t reinvent the wheel” and yet we have put with with them on vacuums for so long. Anyway I decided that this would be a good idea for us. Of course it needs to be made of something strong to withstand all the bashing that it will get. As far as I could discover the only company with the patented ball technology is Dyson.
So I started to look at their models and came up with the Dyson DC25 Multi Floor Lightweight Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner.
It certainly has the ball but I needed to find some other benefits before I introduced it to Pam.
I soon discovered that it has a motorised brush which will make it so much easier to dig down deep and dislodge the pet hairs from the pile of the normal carpet. The good thing though was that it can be turned off over a hard floor or delicate rugs.
Dyson were also the first company to get way from using bags which means that it never clogs up or you find it full just when you want to use it urgently. When you have finished the hoovering simply take out the clear bin (clear so that you can see when it is getting near to full) and top in the rubbish bin or, better still, onto the compost heap. You will be helping the environment much more by doing this.
Instead of the normal suction up into a bag, this machine uses root cyclone technology which is a posh way of saying that it spins at an incredibly fast speed to force every little particle of dust out of the carpet and into the clear bin. This means that you do not get any of the loss of suction or worse still a total blockage when they get trapped in the filter or bag of a normal vacuum cleaner.
Well I think that I pretty much covered all the things that she said that she needed so my wife is happy now and I do not have to spend more time looking at vacuum cleaners.
With the way that the economy is today I have had to become the money advice expert for our family and would like to share some ideas that I have found.
This one is about my wife asking me to check out the best vacuum cleaners so that we did not need to get the costly professional carpet cleaning equipment in as often.

Bag or Bagless Canister Vacuums
The vacuum cleaner market nowadays has a dizzying assortment of both bagless and bagged vacuum cleaners. Both selections come with different pros and cons, knowing what kind of vacuum cleaner gives assistance to consumers in choosing the best selection for their needs. Consideration must be given to continued maintenance, cost, personal needs and cleaning ability when opting for a vacuum cleaner.
Basics
Both bagged and bagless canister vacuums work the same in eliminating debris from carpet and dust particles, rugs and some fabrics all through the house. The main difference is in the dirt particles collection. Bagged vacuums gather dirt in bags set within an external bag. Bagless canister vacuum cleaners gather dirt in detachable plastic canisters.
Cost
The primary cost for buying either kind of vacuum cleaner is similar. Bagless canister vacuums give the clear benefit of no frequent expenses for bags. Bags for some vacuums aren’t too costly but do differ in price, making this a significant area to research before buying any vacuum cleaner that needs bags. External bags also need substitute regularly, so this is different area as well to look in. Bagless canister vacuums need none of these substitutes, but have filters which should be periodically changed and are more costly than bags.
Thoroughness
A high-quality vacuum cleaner with a bag cleans well as a bagless canister vacuum. There are lots of bagged vacuum cleaners available on the market that might not be high-quality, but, making this a significant distinction. Low end vacuum cleaners with bags often leak small dust particles and debris back to the atmosphere, making the cleaning less complete. Alternatively, bagged vacuums give more collection of dirt before requiring to be changed. Emptying bagless canister vacuums is a little bit messy and must be done outside the house to avoid reintroducing dirt and dust to the environment.
Maintenance
Bagged vacuums need regular maintenance or repair, replacement of beater bars or unblock the system. Replaceable outer and inner bags make these vacuum cleaners less likely to need major work in long term. Bagless canister vacuums need similar maintenance. The maintenance needs might be more costly as gathering of canisters break or seals wear down and must be replaced.
Use
Consider how frequently you’ll utilize your vacuum. If you want to utilize the vacuum rarely in a small home, concerns such as maintenance and emptying might not be much of an problem for you. Those people buying a vacuum to start a cleaning service must be more concerned with these issues as they impact business costs and ease of use.
Having a <a href=”http://www.bagless-canister-vacuums.com”>bagless canister vacuum</a> for yourself doesn’t have to be expensive. Get all of the guidelines at, <a href=”http://www.bagless-canister-vacuums.com”>http://www.bagless-canister-vacuums.com</a>.
How to Maintain a Bagless Canister Vacuum Cleaner
You took the leap from a traditional vacuum to a bagless canister vacuum. Since you no longer have to experience changing bags does not mean your vacuum cleaner does not need maintenance regularly to keep its suction power and keep your carpets or floors clean. Here is how to maintain it in proper working order.
Step #1
Clean and empty the canister or dirt trap of your bagless canister vacuum regularly. Some of them are transparent, so you could tell when the dust or dirt is piling up. Clean it methodically in hot water as well as soap and let it dry.
Step #2
While the vacuum canister is out, run the tip of a long handled screw driver up to the hole where dust and dirt drops in the canister, to make sure its not clogged up. You might find a clog of hair and dust is blocking the entrance, especially if you have not emptied the vacuum canister in a long period of time.
Step #3
Remove the hoses from the bagless canister vacuum and throw them away. Beat them on the floor to ensure they are not clogged either. Put them inside and attach them back, ensuring they are firmly attached.
Step #4
Check the HEPA filter. A clogged or dirty filter could cause your bagless canister vacuum to lose suction power quickly. If you cannot afford to purchase a new one, put it outside and beat it to remove as much dirt and dust as possible. Ensure you reinstall it properly.
Step #5
Twist your vacuum cleaner over, and check the brush roller. Ensure it freely turns. Often if you have a long hair or someone in your family, it could wind itself on the rollers, turning them useless, and sometimes stopping the turning of the roller. String, ribbon or thread could cause this problem as well.
Step #6
If that is the case, get a razor blade or box cutter, and cut the string or hair. Remove them using your fingers until the hairs are out of the roller.
Step #7
Clean your bagless canister vacuum with a damp cloth, and change the canister or dirt trap. Repeat this procedure every couple of weeks, as needed.
Tips and Warnings
Always remove the plug of any appliance before trying to repair or maintain it.
