Awesome Hoover
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this vacuum from Amazon as I do with most of the stuff in our house. I love the brand Hoover. I had the Hoover W2 I think it was lime green and white and OMG it was heavy. That vacuum did clean well but at the price of a sore back. I replaced it with this newer one and am totally satisfied. It is light weight and self propelling which really is an awesome feature and I like that I can empty the canister after each vacuuming and don’t have to wait a month or two. In conclusion, “What are you waiting for just buy this vacuum”.
Best I’ve had
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is one of the best I have ever owned. My wife is very allergic and this hoover helps keep the house mostly dust free. The dirt finder is very helpful and for the amount of power it is very light weight.
Great Vacuum Cleaner
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this vacuum cleaner after reading that it was recommended in “Consumer Reports” and I have been impressed by its performance. It does an excellent job of picking up pet hair as well as the sand tracked in during the winter months. It performs well on both carpet and bare floors.
The vacuum also has great attachments such as hose extenders, furniture tools and a turbo tool for steps stowed on the side and front of the machine. It is easy to adjust for carpet height as well as lowering the handle to move under tables.
Overall, this is an excellent vacuum and I would highly recommend it.
Flimsy defective
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This vacuum started out ok (though the “power-hand held never worked) but soon fell apart. The red light never goes off, its crazy loud and my husband says that the beater brush underneath never turns off. This started after two light uses! At first I thought I needed a new filter–guess how much they cost? $30!!! But it needs to be returned. Unfortunately, since its past 30 days (almost 60) all I can do is pay to ship it back to Amazon and hope for a “partial” refund of who knows what. Amazon’s website is not helpful. Unbelievable. Big mistake.
Issues I encountered using this product
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Initially, I purchased this product because of the high reviews. This is the first bag-less vacuum cleaner I have owned. The first issue I encountered was the bag-less compartment needs to be emptied every few minutes when vacuuming commences to maintain suction power, thereby creating more work than desired. This is because the dust, etc. accumulates against the internal side filter, blocking the air flow. I think this part of the vacuum was poorly designed. The next issue I encountered was the hepa filter clogs quickly and easily. Only after a few uses and the filter already appears like it needs to be replaced and the replacement filters start at $30+. Be prepared for expensive up keep with this model. Next the handle that spins the hepa filter around so that the dust falls to the bottom and out broke. When I went to purchase a replacement part through Hoovers website the part was out-of-stock. Several weeks later the part is still out of stock. If you contact Hoover directly you will receive an automotive system that forces you to enter your zip code so the system can route you the nearest repair facility for assistance. Reaching a live person is not an option. In other words, Hoover will not provide you any customer service directly. And there is no guarantee there will be a repair facility near your residence. Moreover, when I contacted Hoover regarding the out of stock part via e-mail, I did not receive a response. Overall, I was greatly disappointed in the performance of this vacuum and Hoover’s lack of customer service. My old, cheap bag vacuum out performs this newer expensive model.
DON’T DO IT!!! – BELT BROKE IN < 5 MINUTES!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The vacuum appears to be great – the right level of suction, attachments, weight…however after using it for about 4 minutes the belt broke. I read dozens of reviews on Amazon prior to purchase, several of which mentioned the belt breaking, however the good reviews seemed to outweigh the bad and I took the risk. Now I’m shipping it back for a refund.
Good thing I kept the $99 Dirt Devil…
Not bad!

I am used to classic Electorlux vacuums and I hate shopping for one because if you get the wrong one (which are many), you are going to hate it. I was just looking around and saw this at a great price with good reviews(I dismiss the few negatives with petty complaints) and workable price. It also looked cool and it was bag-less – a first for me.
In my life (mainly my mother’s vacuums) I dealt with Kenmore (hated it), Hoover(no opinion), Electrolux (the REAL deal) and an Oreck XL (good for what it was, but ultimately cheap and lost suction). I decided to go with a Hoover and see what this was all about. I felt that since other brands and sought after by women and they are bag-less, I thought that I would give this design a try.
I go the package (shipped in retail box) from Fedex Ground and it was opened. They re-taped it in a sloppy way. It should have been double-boxed or something. This box is not good for shipping. I was afraid that something would be broken or missing. I believe everything was there. It did appear new. Assembly was easy and it looks more modern and powerful than the old Oreck with the expensive bags.
I can only judge this by having it for about 4 months and having used it about 4 or 5 times. I like to judge vacuums by long-term use and if it still sucks up. So far, it works very well. It is no Electrolux, but it is in the area and puts the Oreck to shame. My carpet looked clean and was plush after vacuuming. With the Oreck, it only became mainly clean on the surface only. I feel good about this move that was made on this.
Best vacuum I have bought in a long time!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this vacuum last week and when it arrived I was hoping I spent my money well. I have to say that after about five minutes of unscrewing the handle and then reattaching it to the base it was ready to go. Easy. When I was using it I could fill how powerful it was. It was also quiet and easy to push. Kind of heavy for lifting while cleaning the stairs but if you want a decent motor you have to have a little weight.
The attachments worked well. Emptying the canister was easy. No fuss getting it out, pushing the button, giving it a little shake and then using the attached plastic handle thingy on top to “wind” the filter so all the dirt was released. I have never seen a vacuum so easy to clean! I am thinking of buying one for the downstairs because it has a three year warranty and it really does a great job getting all the dirt up. I would recommend this to anyone.
Purchase only to vacuum carpets.

This vacuum is not meant to be utilized for any surface area other than carpet. The machine did a fair job on the carpet, however, on bare floors of any type the dirt and other items (e.g. cat litter) on the floor simply shoot out the back of the machine due to the roller. The solution stated in the manual does nothing to prevent or solve this problem, I ended up having to sweep both the area I intended to vacuum and the area I had already vacuumed due to dirt that had been sprayed out the back. Unlike other machines meant for both carpet and bare floor use there is no way to turn the roller off with this model.
Hoover Windtunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The product is okay, but not as good as Consumer Reports says it is. The exhaust air comes out of the front and blows the dust around that I am trying to capture. My Hoover arrived without one attachment and missing some screws. It was not packed well, so I suspect it had been someone else’s return. I will not order any products of this type from Amazon again. Amazon should stick with books and movies.
Very therapeutic
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Great machine. Absolutely love the dirt sensor feature. I have always attempted to keep my floors as clean as possible, but with big, unruly dogs who continually bring the great outdoors indoors, it was a losing battle. It was surprising the amount of dirt that apparently remained embedding in the carpet after using my my prior vacuum. Previously, when steam cleaning the carpet, there would be a significant layer of dirt/mud at the bottom of the dirty water receptacle. Now, after using this great product, there is no more layer of dirt and mud at the bottom of the steam cleaner. Not especially happy with the performance on hard floors, but on carpeting it is spectacular.
Excellent vacuum
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My wife and I have had an earlier version of this vacuum, the Hoover model U5753-900, for many years. Last week the switch went on it. My wife and I shopped around at some local stores and wanted to replace our vacuum with a similar model, maybe the next model up the line. We found the best price on Amazon and ordered this unit, model U5786-900. We are extremely pleased with the improved performance of this model. We always had great performance from the other Hoover as well, which is why we wanted to get another Hoover model to replace it. We have had other brand vacuums over the years (we are homeowners for over 33 years) and the Hoovers always outperform the others and last longest.
The particular features I like on this U5786 are the improved roller brush hairs, which are strong yet flexible, and the lightness of the vacuum overall. I was surprised to find it is almost self-propelled and very easy to push. It comes with three additional tools in the top compartment, including a mini roller head that is perfect for couches and other furniture. They advertise it as a Pet Hair Tool, and with our 12 year old Golden Retriever always finding a way to get to her favorite couch spot, this tool will get a lot of use.
Another great innovation over the U5753 that they put in the U5786 is a one-touch Bottom Empty Dirt Container. I really like the whole bagless vacuum concept, replacing the need to pull out and dispose of a filthy dusty vacuum bag all the time – when is it full, where are the replacement bags, hope I don’t rip the replacement bag putting it in the vacuum, all that baloney. And I always would get hit with a cloud of dust in the face when I removed a full bag, and sometimes the darn bag would break – great fun let me tell you. So I was very glad that they came up with the bagless canister design. And the Hoover design is great, very efficient and easy to empty, clean, and reassemble. Anyway, now you don’t even have to take the canister apart and knock off the dust on the filter and re-assemble everything and wash your hands – you press a button and the bottom pops open, and into the garbage can everything goes. Also, there is a crank on the top and a plastic bar inside that knocks all the dirt and dust off the filter for you – and into the garbage can. Clip the bottom back up and slip it back in, and away you go. I still wash my hands but I don’t really need to with this design. The extension arms snap into the side of the vacuum, easily accessible. Also, a thinner extension arm fits into one of the regular extension arms for storage – good idea.Wind the cord onto the back of the unit and into the closet it goes. I think some higher-end models have a retractable cord, I would have liked that, but this one was in my price range.
This is really a well designed, well functioning vacuum that does the job superbly and lasts a long time and isn’t a pain to deal with at all. And oh yeah, I broke out my screwdriver set, did a little digging into the U5753, and was able to remove the defective switch. Tested it with a Volt-Ohm meter and verified it was NG. I went to a local vacuum repair shop and got an identical replacement switch for the U5753 for $10, popped it in and it works like a charm. So now I have a backup / upstairs vacuum and a main vacuum, both of which I am very pleased with.
Can’t go wrong with Hoover in my book.
loud non working sucker
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
sorry for a bad review. but it is amazing that hoover sells a product like this one. it’s loud, does not perform well, is cheaply done and came scratched and already used or refurbished? not used since it’s first use. i guess i should take it back to amazon but am afraid that it is too late for a return now (took it out of the box 3.5 months after purchasing it) not recommending this product at all. Have a hoover stick vac from the platinum lynx series (Li-Ion powered) Small and quick at hand, much better quality. Great for small quick jobs.
Hoover Windtunnel Bagless Anniversary Model
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have used this vac several times and like it a lot, especially it’s ability to pick up the pet hair from my long haired lovable old kitty cat who loves me so much she follows me to whatever room I’m in and is often in my lap, even when I’m trying to type.
I previously owned a Fantom Cyclone [no longer in business], which was very innovative at the time, including a HEPA filter, was bagless, and had an extension stored in the handle, from a TV infomercial. It has served faithfully for 19 years, but when I read that this new Hoover excelled at picking up cat hair, I decided it was time for a change.
It has the same innovative features as the Fantom and does an even better job with its more powerful suction and is self propelled which makes the chore a little easier. I particularly like the little red light that comes on when it hits an area with extra dirt so you can hit it again. It always works. It is also easy to carry up and down stairs because the handle is in the middle so it’s better balanced to carry. I was used to emptying the Fantom after each whole house use and this one is just as easy to empty [I do it outside to eliminate the possibilty of an accidental mess on the carpets I just cleaned].
It’s removable handle extension is even better than the Fantom’s because it is more powerful and has an innovative stored in the front and easy to get out, spinning brush which does a good job of picking up pet hair from upholstered furniture.
I like everything about it.
This vaccum really sucks
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Gave this vaccum to my daughter for a Christmas gift as her old one had died. She has two dogs and this vaccum sucks up the dog hair like crazy. The vaccum was easy for her to assemble and use. I can recommend this on to anyone with pets.
Love it!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We bought this vacuum because it was the only one Consumer Reports recommended. (November ‘09 issue I think) It has been over a month and so far I love it. We have a cat and a dog that both shed entirely too much. This vacuum works great on the pet hair and the kid messes. I’ve used it on wood floors, carpet, and furniture. The unit is heavy, so I wouldn’t recommend carrying it up and down stairs. But, I think because of its weight it pulls me through the house, even though it isn’t supposed to be self-propelled. Overall I am pleased. I would and have recommended this product.
Overall Good Vacuum
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This vacuum is pretty heavy so if your lugging it up and down steps it may be a turnoff to you; however for me I like the weight as it feels more sturdy. The On/Off slider and general upper portion of the vacuum does not feel as sturdy as the bottom.
Cleaning wise; it’s excellent; the dirt finder feature seems like a gimmick; but seems to actually work fairly well in identifying spots you may have missed.
Noise level is about average to high; definitely not a quiet vacuum.
Pros: Sturdy bottom/base, Cleans very well
Cons: Possibly heavy for some, little messy to clean, smallish canister for dirt
Out with the old.

-1 star for the size, but what an improvement from my old vacuum. Using a coupon at Burlington I got this for half the price it sells for on amazon. Was going to buy a cheeper dirt devil ($49) but I’m glad I splurged. Just vacuumed the whole house and the ceiling rail, looking forward to my nice new clean vacuum and putting the old one out on the street.
Hoover U5786900 Windtunnel Anniversary Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Bought it a few months ago now, it arrived with the box smashed to smithereens, the vacuum was still intact somehow. I have mixed feelings on the vacuum. It does pull up the dirt like a fiend. But it suffered a broken belt with in two weeks. Now the little clean indicating light on the front isn’t working. The manual recommends it be taken apart and cleaned quite a bit. There are a lot of pieces to take apart. It’s much cheaper feeling and looking than I imagined it would be. I say all this but it cleans well. I am very happy with the power at my disposal. So it’s a mixed bag. I’ll settle on being happy I have clean rugs.
Best vacuum
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have another wind tunnel by Hoover and love it. They have improved it by being able to empty from the bottom instead of the top. It picks up cat hair really well and the red and green lights show what needs more vacuuming. It’s definitely an improved model and I recommend it.
Consumer Reports were wrong about this!
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought the hoover windtunnel anniversary bagless less than a year ago. I purchased it based on the reviews from Consumer Reports. Well, let me tell you that the cons outweigh the pros. I don’t mind a heavy vaccum. But this thing is considerably heavier than I would have imagained or wanted. It is so heavy that it is difficult to push….and not in a “its a quality product” sort of way. The weight makes it cumbersome and awkward to manage. Forget about getting this up stairs! It does have a strong vaccum and sucks up anything in its way. But, I wouldn’t buy it just for that. That is really the only thing it has going for it. The tools are basicly useless. Very little suction from the tools. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I don’t know what I would have bought in its place, but if it breaks-good ridance!
Terrific vacuum!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My upright vacuum died unexpectedly so I consulted Consumer’s Reports and made Amazon purchase of this unit due to its high rating. IT arrived very quickly, was super simple to make the handle attachment, then I set about using it. WHOA Nelly – this baby pulls itself forward – kind of like a “self propelled” lawn mower does! Very interesting as I then noted my energy was mostly expended on the “return stroke” (you know – it pulls itself forward where you steer it, then you pull it back before you steer it forward again). But not that I’m complaining about that – just is an observation. So I thought I would vacuum a bedroom that is little used and had been vacuumed with my old unit just a week before – and I was amazed at the amount of fibers etc that this vacuum accumulated in its dirt canister! So then it was time to empty the canister – well I strongly recommend one does this outside of your home into a bag or other receptacle because the fact you can release a latch and the dirt “drops out” is true but in order to get “stuff” from around the interior edges to drop out, you MUST tap the canister collection unit – and that’s when the dust cloud arises. Since I always go out to my 55g rollaround garbage bin to empty my vacuum canisters – this not a huge inconvenience to me but I mention it because I recall Hoover citing the “open latch, dirt falls out” as part of their marketing pitch.
Would I recommend this reasonably priced and strong performing vacuum to others! absolutely – especially if like me, you have no stairs to vacuum, or climb with this unit to the upper floor.
Great Vacuum So Far
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a great vacuum so far. I’ve had it for almost three months now. I researched Consumer Reports and read a ton of reviews for this model before purchasing. It arrived quickly and packaging was all in tact and not banged up – so I trusted the vacuum inside would be in good shape, and it was. So far, it has great suction and is very easy for me to push – being a petite person. I’ve also used the hose attachment on multiple occasions, and it works just as well as the overall vacuum. A previous reviewer mentioned that their on/off switch broke off… Mine did not break, but due to the strange placement and construction, I am being very gentle when pushing it. The on/off switch is located on the handle of the vacuum, and is this strange sliding piece of plastic. If I experience any negative aspects, I will update with a new review. In the mean time, this was my first vacuum purchase ever and I would recommend it to others.
good deal
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Following a best buy review in Consumer Reports we were delighted to find the item at Amazon. It is powerful and does the job! With two cats in the house we were interested in the pet hair attachment, which did not work as well as we would like; however, the regular part of the machine did the job. Great price and fast shipping. We are most pleased.
Very good price for this item
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
One problem, otherwise I would give it 5 out of 5. One of the attachments (sort of looks like a mini-vacuum) did not work after a couple of uses. I see others have that problem. It is too bad because the mini attachment worked really well for things like couches and curtains (if you have animals). Other than that, it is a great vacuum for the price I paid which was a hundred and fifty dollars. This has better reviews than almost all other brands no matter what the price. Get this.
Filthy Machine to use.
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I spent so much time reviewing vacuums! Even Consumer’s Report. Why did I not see the reviews that said you must constantly empty this bagless one over and over during each use, even though it isn’t full, because the screen gets blocked. Which means you’ll have a cloud of dust! So go outside in the cold and wind or look out! And you’ll have to reach in and clean the screen in between the clear collector and the filter with your bare hands! My 2 cats don’t shed much, but their fur catches across that screen and I have to reach in and scrape it off by hand. Yuck! Otherwise the suction stops. I’ve had it for a few months and already the belt has snapped. It barely shows any wear on the belt at all! I have never even disliked a vacuum before. This one I despise!

We bought this Hoover vacuum to clean a waiting area carpet in our barber shop. While it wasn’t noticably visible that hair was in the carpet, I knew it was there. After the first cleaning with this new Hoover, the carpet looked almost new. Definitely a difference. The bagless and easy to remove canister was a welcome addition. With just the first cleaning the the powerful suction pulled so much dirt and hair out of the carpet, we had to dump it right away. Definitely a good buy.
Carpet like new again
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love my new vacuum! I received my new vacuum yesterday & used it immediately. Super easy to assemble, screwed the handle on & I was ready to clean. For a clean person that vacuums my house weekly if not more, I couldn’t believe how much dirt (and dog hair) this vacuum sucked up. My carpet looks like new again! It is fluffy, clean and looks great rather than all matted down. I can’t believe the difference this vacuum made. Very good deal (especially since now I don’t feel like I need to buy new carpeting just yet!)!
OMG!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
After reading a lot of reviews, I chose this vacuum cleaner. I put it together in about 2 minutes, with a toddler trying to grab the tools the entire time. I used it on my low shag area rug, which had been vacuumed the previous day. OMG! This vacuum picked up so much dust and dog hair that it almost filled the cup! I thought I was playing with my children on a clean rug last night, but I was wrong. I can’t wait to use this in other areas of the house. Great product. I can’t give it five stars, because I have only used it once.
