   I had this vacuum for 2 years and it still works, but I can’t use it.
   
   The handle was always a weak point and it eventually broke – so I have been using it duct taped together, which was ok until the area where the bottom connects to the body also broke, rendering it useless. I am going to have to add it to a landfill and buy a new one. I am disappointed since it was nice and light – good for carrying up to our loft and small enough to fit in the closet and powerful enough to clean up cat hair.

   I purchased the Shark Stick Vac for use at our church. We had been using an upright for our cleaning and some of our members were complaining about its weight. Well, there are no more complaints about weight and nothing but raves about the Sharks cleaning ability. And to top it off, the tools are onboard as opposed to in a box that you must carry around. GREAT PRODUCT!

   For a stick vac, this has some unusual features–onboard tools and really great suction! I had a small one-bedroom apartment with two cats who shed heavily and this vacuum worked amazingly well at keeping my floors (and chairs, futon, and sometimes clothing if I couldn’t find my lint roller) hairless and clean. The carpet was a very low pile, however, and I found when I moved that I really needed a beater bar to get a good clean in the new place. I can’t recommend it enough for low pile carpets, or if you need cheap hose tools for cleaning upholstery, and also it worked well on my linoleum floors in the bathroom and kitchen. The only downside, which other reviewers mentioned, is that every use (remember, lots of pet hair) significantly decreased the suction, so I found I had to empty the canister (bagless, yay!) after each use, and knock the dirt/hair out of the filter about once a month (I used the vac a couple times a week), and rinse the filter clean maybe every other month. It was a bit of a pain, but I found this regimen for cleaning the vacuum well worth the trade for how clean it got my apartment!

   No carpets; difficult on hardwood

   Plusses — retractable cord; aesthetically more pleasant design; not super loud
   
   Minuses — useless on any carpet; works on hardwood and linoleum if you can manage to avoid it blowing everywhere right before you get to it. Unfortunately the vents are angled poorly and blow away the very things you are trying to pick up. I have resorted to going back to my broom as it is easier to have to pick up what this vacuum cleaner leaves behind. In terms of power, I would prefer a more powerful suction.

   Good for bare floors

   It won’t pick up any lint on my area rug, but it does a great job on the bare floors. I need one that does both carpet and floors (I don’t have enough storage for both), so I’m taking this one back.

   I don’t know why this is tagged as cordless, it has a cord.

   Does the job, filter a nuisance

   I bought this from Target to use in place of a broom on a large expanse of ceramic tile that covers two entries, kitchen, back hall, laundry & powder room. The Shark does a good job of picking up dust and debris from these hard surfaces. It’s easier to use than a broom, and way easier to push around the floor than my big Dyson vac. It also fits under the toe kick on my kitchen cabinets, which the Dyson does not. I’ve also used it for quick clean up of small debris from carpeted areas (e.g., crumbs, leaf fragments that were tracked in, etc.) and that worked well. I like the rectractable cord – it’s very convenient. Wish my Dyson had that.

   What I don’t like is the dirt cup/filter. It is a multi-step operation to get the dirt cup out. Then when you open it, dust floats up and around. The filter is especially hard to clean. I had to use a toothbrush to get into its accordion-style folds, and that put more dust into the air. Shark says you can run water over the filter to clean it, but then you have to let the thing dry before you can put it back together and use it. Not a good design.

   Dissappointing product

   The vacuum does not pick up much of anything except dust. I was very disappointed with the performance. I was given this as a gift and the person who purchased it was going by the name of Shark and expected better results. Works OK on my kitchen floor, but would not reccomend for carpets.

   My wife finds her new Shark Vacuum better then the first one we purchased. It is quite, and seems to vacuum better then the first one.
   
   Also the retractable cord is a plus.
   
   For the price we think this was a great buy. Also the shipping time was great, we received the product a couple of days early.
